Post-Construction Cleaning: Why New Builds Need a Pro

If you've ever walked into a freshly finished remodel, you know the feeling: it looks done, but everything you touch leaves a mark on your hand. That's drywall dust, and it behaves nothing like household dust.

Drywall dust is fine enough to stay airborne for hours and settles everywhere — on top of door frames, inside vents, in light fixtures, in cabinet hinges, and in the tracks of every window. Wipe a surface once and more dust settles onto it that afternoon. That's why post-construction cleaning is done in passes, not in a single sweep.

It also clogs standard vacuums. We use equipment rated for fine particulate, because running a household vacuum through drywall dust destroys the filter within minutes and blows most of the dust straight back into the room.

A proper post-construction clean covers debris and packaging removal, sticker and label removal from windows and appliances, adhesive and paint spatter clean-up, vents and light fixtures, cabinet interiors, and a full floor scrub — worked top to bottom so falling dust never lands on finished surfaces.

For larger projects we work in phases alongside the contractor: a rough clean once framing and drywall are done, an interim clean before finishes go in, and the final clean before the walkthrough. That approach keeps dust from building up in places that get sealed shut later.
